Aguadulce

The origin of Aguadulce is placed within the Turdetan age, when the town was known as Marucca, although various authors call it Ipora and situate Marucca 8km far. Until the 18th C. Aguadulce belonged to the jurisdiction of Estepa, but since then it became an independent town. It is said that Miguel de Cervantes spent one night at the country inn near the river Blanco during his travel from Granada to Sevilla.
The economic life of Aguadulce is closely bound to the agriculture, specifically to the olives and cereals. Its prestigious vegetables already received for more than 500 years an award at Paris fair.
Aguadulce is very appreciate by the tourists, who visit it specially during summer and also during the 'feria', pilgrimage or Holy Week. The visitors can also enjoy an excellent gastronomy, as well as fantastic rides in the countryside whi ch surrounds the village. The 2.000 inhabitants are characterised by an affable personality.


The river Blanco crosses this lovely village located near the highway A-92, between Estepa and Osuna. Because of the proximity to both of these towns, only 5 minutes by car, Aguadulce offers all the services: hospital, shopping centres, offices from the Spanish national insurance and the Treasury, etc...

 

'¡Cerro Real, coche de oro!' (Cerro Real, gold car)
This sentence reminds the inhabitants of Aguadulce the tempting legend which said that inside this famous hill there was a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered. Also our housing development, situated on its side and with fantastic views over the countryside, is called Cerro Real.
